However, one thing celebrities have been doing is making sure that their stardom is used in a positive way as most of them are taking to social media to create awareness about what to do and what not to do in the current situation. Not just that, several stars have now come out and are contributing to the PM-CARES fund, which is for the relief work.
Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan has undertaken an initiative to provide monthly ration to 1 lakh daily wage workers, whose livelihood has been severely hit by the nationwide lockdown following the coronavirus outbreak.
Bachchan is the latest Bollywood celebrity to lend support to daily wage workers. The initiative is supported by Sony Pictures Networks India and Kalyan Jewellers.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh
On Saturday, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh also pledged to donate to PM-CARES Fund. On Twitter and Instagram, the couple wrote a note that read, “In times like these, every bit counts. We humbly pledge to contribute to the PM-CARES Fund and hope that you will too. We are all in this together, and we shall overcome. Jai Hind.”
Salman Khan
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan pledged to financially support 25,000 daily wage workers from the film industry in the wake of the national lockdown, according to Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE).
“Salman’s Being Human Foundation has come forward to help daily wage workers. They called us three days ago. We have about 5 lakh workers out of which 25,000 are in dire need of financial help. Being Human Foundation said they will take care of these workers on their own. They have asked for account details of these 25,000 workers as they want to ensure that money reaches them directly.

Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar, on Saturday, pledged to donate Rs 25 crore in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The development comes in the wake of netizens accusing Bollywood stars of not contributing to help those struggling with the Covid-19 crisis.
Author and columnist Twinkle Khanna lauded her husband’s gesture, and said that she was very proud of him. She also wrote that he didn’t think twice about making this donation.

Shah Rukh Khan is the latest Bollywood actor to join the fight against the coronavirus. Through social media announcements, he declared that his set of companies — Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX — will extend monetary support to several charities, which include the PM CARES fund, Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Ekta Kapoor, who runs Balaji Telefilms, Balaji Motion Pictures and ALTBalaji, released a statement on Friday where she announced she will forsake her one year’s salary for her co-workers.

Rohit Shetty has come forward to donate money for the wellbeing of daily wagers who work in the entertainment industry. Rohit has contributed a sum of Rs 51 lakh to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), according to filmmaker Ashoke Pandit.
Pandit, who is also the chief advisor of FWICE, shared a video on Twitter and thanked the Golmaal director for his generosity during such critical times.
“Rohit, you have been an inspiration to us. You have always been helpful to us and whenever we have knocked at your door, you have never let us down. God Bless You and All The Best (sic),” he concluded.

Lata Mangeshkar announced on Twitter that she was donating Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund as part of her “duty to help your government during this difficult time”.
“I have a humble request to all that we should help the government as much as possible in the fight against the government,” the veteran singer wrote.
Sara Ali Khan
Sara Ali Khan also pledged an undisclosed amount towards the relief work in order to combat COVID-19 spread in the country.
“I pledge to donate to the PM CARES Fund and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra) Every contribution counts, and solidarity is our only hope against this pandemic,” the “Love Aaj Kal” actor wrote on Instagram.

Alia Bhatt also pledged her contribution to the PM-CARES Fund and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra).
“At a time of great difficulty, while the nation is in lockdown, the central and state governments are working tirelessly to combat Covid-19. I salute the efforts of all those on the frontlines who are putting themselves at risk so the rest of us stay safe,” she wrote in a statement on Twitter.

Actor Varun Dhawan decided to step up and do his bit to help the nation fight the Covid-19 crisis.
Dhawan said on Saturday that he has pledged Rs 30 lakh as donation to PM-CARES Fund and Rs 25 lakh to Maharashtra CM’s relief fund.
Hrithik Roshan
Roshan sent out a tweet, announcing that he had procured N95 and FFP3 masks for the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) workers and other caretakers.
The move was welcomed and lauded by netizens all over the country. The 46-year-old star also sent out a tweet, thanking Aaditya Thackeray, son of Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, for giving him an opportunity to help curb the spread of the pandemic.
Rajinikanth
Rajinikanth came to the rescue of those worst hit by the pandemic, by donating Rs 50 lakh to the daily wage workers of the South film industry.
The actor had donated the amount to the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) Union workers who were facing a shutdown due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The South film industry, much like B-Town, was facing losses and was given a helping hand by Rajini.
Prabhas
Prabhas made a significant donation to the needy. As per a PTI report, the ‘Baahubali’ star donated a whopping Rs 4 crore towards Covid-19 relief.
Out of the donation amount, the ‘Saaho’ star pledged Rs 3 crore to the Prime Minister’s relief fund and Rs 50 lakh each to Chief Minister’s relief fund of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Pawan Kalyan
Pawan Kalyan, who’s a member of the Jana Sena Party and is also popular for his roles in films like ‘Jalsa’ and ‘Gabbar Singh’, announced a donation of Rs 1 crore to PM relief fund.
The actor called PM Modi’s leadership ‘inspiring’ and ‘exemplary’. “I will be donating Rs 1 crore to the PM relief fund to support our Hon PM Sri @narendramodi ji, in turbulent times like this. His exemplary and inspiring leadership would truly bring our country from this Corona pandemic,” Kalyan wrote on Twitter.
“I will be donating Rs 50 Lakhs each to both AP and Telangana CM relief funds to fight against Corona pandemic,” he added.
Ram Charan
Indian film producer, entrepreneur and Telugu cinema star, Ram Charan, inspired by Kalyan’s contribution, announced that he will be donating Rs 70 lakh to the PMO and state governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to help with the ongoing health crisis.
Charan also urged his fans to stay at home and stay safe. “Hope this tweet finds you in good health. At this hour of crisis, inspired by @PawanKalyan garu, I want to do my bit by contributing to aid the laudable efforts of our governments. Indian singer and rapper Badshah on Sunday announced that he has pledged to donate Rs 25 lakh to the PM-CARES fund for the country’s battle against Covid-19.
“I pledge to donate 25 lakh rupees to the PM-CARES fund. A small contribution towards strengthening our country’s fight against the ongoing crisis. Together we will win. Jai hind!” read his post.
Hema Malini
In addition to actors, people’s representatives, cutting across the party lines also did their bit and made significant donations for Covid-19 relief.
Hema Malini, who is also the BJP MP from Mathura, released a whopping amount of Rs 1 crore from the MPLADS (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) funds for countering the virus.
Sunny Deol
Actor-politician Sunny Deol, who is known for his popular roles in films like ‘Gadar- Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’, announced a donation of Rs 50 lakh from his MPLADS fund.
The Gurdaspur MP will use the funds for buying necessary medical equipment needed to fight the virus. “I am withdrawing Rs 50 lakh from MPLADS fund so Gurdaspur doesn’t have to face difficulty fighting this pandemic,” Deol wrote on Twitter.
